There's a song from my teenage years by XTC who sing a catchy little tune with these lyrics. My local radio has played this a few times recently and I find myself singing the words like a 15 year old. Right now I can't remember them to type them here. But I do understand the concept of the senses working overtime.
Our marvellous bodies have 5 physical senses and a sixth sense. The sixth sense I like to call a 'radar' system where it collates all previous data, assembles it and then scans the area for danger. This radar system has been seriously working overtime in this time of pandemic. Add to that, some power cuts, curfews, and strange confusing laws and our radar is in a permanent state of arousal...and not the good type.
Just like a GPS watch requires battery charging to keep working optimally, so does our bodies. Using the invisible radar system depletes us of energy. We need to recharge..
Tapping is a body calmer downer.
It reminds the physical vehicle of exactly where we are in that specific moment. Almost like a pattern interrupt. By tapping regularly, it calms the body down and the breaths will deepen and shoulders will drop, and hopefully jaws will drop (a little).
Our bodies are tired, our minds are tired, our hearts are tired. Extreme fatigue is all around. But tapping physically on the body, it helps the brain calm down too.
Try it, and see for yourself.
