It's great having my sister back in her house after her quick visit to London. We popped put to a tailor shop to see if I can get my ski jacket adjusted so I don't have to keep pulling it on and off over my head.
On walking into the sewing shop, I had memories of mum and my small home town. Mum was a great seamstress and made many wedding dresses in our community. These kinds of shops with rolls of fabric, buttons, large cutting tables and sewing machines were fascinating for my younger self. Not that I inherited any sewing gene, but I do like the feel of potential in these shops plus the colours are fascinating.
After deciding on a zip colour we headed off to try out a lovely coffee shop nearby, but it was full. We chatted with another waiting couple and we all agreed that it was great to see small businesses being so strongly supported. We walked across to a large shop aptly called the Range and had our coffee in there. Thirsts quenched, we walked slowly around the Christmas decor aisle with my jaw on the floor. The variety is huge and will probably increase after the Halloween decorations are cleared away. The one aisle had more electricity than the city of Johannesburg!
I'm still amazed at the variety and range(groan) of everything here. I'm grateful too, that there are still a lot of retail stores about so I can see exactly what is on offer. It's fascinating yet sometimes overwhelming because nothing looks familiar. But I did recognise Santa, haha
Or is that, ho, ho, ho?
