I couldn't get to sleep last night after writing my blog. Normally writing this is a great signal to my brain that it's ready for dream world. But last night I was over stimulated and started trying to remember the Banksy exhibition in detail plus all the buildings and art I'd seen afterwards.
On my first gap year in this city, I was impressed with the buildings but a lot of them were neglected and needing refurbished from all the bus fumes from the 70s and 80s. Now, the buildings are looking amazing and as I wandered up and down the streets after finding the Jewish section at the Glasgow Necropolis, I was just in awe. The stone details are fantastic and the craftsmanship is astounding. Plus there are huge big blocks of stone all lined up perfectly, in the days before machines and cranes and higher up all those domes and gargoyles.....
Plus there is amazing street art, on the sides of buildings and it just adds to the vibrancy of a city that has seen it's share of ups and downs.
You see how I get lost in wonder? It certainly helps that the sun was shining which encouraged me to keep looking up without getting rain in my face. It did rain today however, I was safely in my brother's house watching the big drops bounce on the unusually dry earth. Even bigger rain fell over the city tonight and an International football match between Scotland and Georgia got postponed by 20 minutes because of a waterlogged pitch.
I'm sounding like a local now, talking about football, lol.
