Train trips- the bane of many a Brits' life but a sheer joy of mine. The train arrives 2 minutes before schedule. Everyone rushes towards the doors, but even in the rush, there's a British queuing order. People seem to realise who was standing where and the embarking begins. Today's train trips had booked seats and I had a slight dread of the unthinkable... someone sitting in it as I get there. Fortunately I wasn't faced with the conundrum of being polite and firm but asking them to move, plus there were enough empty seats to avoid any confrontation, haha.
I love the way staff members and strangers call me 'sweetheart; pet; dear or darlin'. I know a lot of people dislike it, but I enjoy the personable warm way that engagement happens. I enjoy the sense of humour too, travelling can make a lot of people tense and snippy, but a joke breaks the ice.
Today's train trip took me across country again to Morecambe. A return visit but it looked very different from my summer trip.
The flooding seems worse on this route and it was interesting to see the seagulls swimming on the recently planted fields. I wonder if the seeds come to the surface and it's like the Macdonalds for the sea birds?
It was my friend's birthday on Saturday so I was glad to be able to return to visit for a few days. Her living room view is spectacular and all my conversations had me gazing over her shoulder. The sky was so dramatic and I was fascinated watching the clouds shift.
If I lived here, I would definitely be trying to paint the scenery. I can picture myself in front of my easel, possibly wearing a beret, just because I can, haha. A room with a view... yip, life goals.
