Wintery feels

Saturday 25th November 2023

I had an early Christmas. I slept through to 6am, yey!!! This has become a big deal for me over the past few years, even though with limited sleep I still seem to function okay - or do I? Lol. I used to be such a heavy sleeper in my youth, but things change..

With one month till Christmas day, I got the opportunity to see quite lot of Christmas lights on different houses. I suppose that is a benefit of early darkness and eager 'decorations people'. The icy air makes me realise the actual function of Christmas decor with knitted stockings, woolly jumpers and tinsel mimicking the frosty grass.

I'm seeing advertising of the Lapland Santa experience getting ready to welcome British families too. I applied for the job of Mrs Claus, and the post had been filled, however the interviewer loved me and told me to apply for next Christmas when the jobs become available in February. However today's 5°C and ivy winds made me grateful that I hadn't got the position this year. I'm not sure if I would have been able to handle Lapland temperatures of -9°C and 15km/h wind today. With 6 weeks to go on that cold location, I'm feeling rather grateful that the timing didn't work out like I'd wanted.

I have to train myself to become weather hardy. But for now, I'm cosying it up in my sister's warm house.
