Wintery chills

Johannesburg has an annual average of 300 sunshine days. Today was not one of them. The overcast sky hung heavy as I did my Tuesday tasks and then I looked at packing more items. It is amazing how much stuff we accumulate that we don't really need. But in saying that, looking at a pretty item, or nice picture gives us moments of joy and on this cold winter morning, joy helps the blues from taking hold.

I am looking forward to seeing how much I get by with, because after walking the Camino in Spain, 5 years ago I got quite numb to the three clothing outfits that I wore on that trip. Decisions on what to store and what to let go of can be tricky. On the one hand I want to let go of all of it, yet, if I don't enjoy living 'light', I want to be able to settle again, if needed. Fortunately I have storage options which give me the choice of keeping things and not be too brutal in throwing away.

The part of me that dreaded change and wanted everything to stay exactly the same years ago, is but a tiny whisper in my mind. So tonight I am sitting letting that whisper speak while I stay bundled up for the artic circle of my bedroom and drink my chamomile tea.

As they say in Afrikaans 'more is nog 'n dag'

Tomorrow is another day
