Wild-er-ness

There's a small town, possibly a village, in between George and Knysna in the Cape province called Wilderness. I used to think of it as 'The Wilderness' but there isn't a 'The'. I also thought of it as a couple of fancy houses, a hotel and lots of beaches.  Today I discovered a lovely village with some great restaurants and coffee shops and a market square in amongst all of the beautiful nature.

My friend extended her stay and booked into a delightful bnb right on the beachfront so we went down the road to the BeeJuice Cafe inside the old station house.  The railway between George and Knysna was completed in 1928 and this was the only station on the line. We saw a friendly mouse scurrying across the cafe porch and oddly enough it seemed to fit right in. We didn't point it out to the staff but we also didn't freak out either.

It was a glorious day of sunshine as we strolled about seeing the local lawn bowling club busy on the greens, the local artists display their art and some three wheeled bikers roll into the restaurant street. The beach sprawled out in its  golden glory while the sea growled and tossed it's large surf at the shore.

I came back to sleepy Sedgefield and admired my view, feeling thankful for a week of long conversations,  copious amount of herbal tea and the necessary lunches.
