I could start writing about my early start to the day,saying goodbye to the 'aye' which left my eye a little leaky, but
ROME!!!!
I want to jump up and down with glee!!!!
And we've only seen a teeny tiny portion in the dark! My friend from Portsmouth, has joined me and every time I gasp, she looks concerned, meanwhile it's me glimpses another building.
Built by the ROMANS!!!!
Our hotel is an old monastery which means the thick old walls aren't conducive to wifi frequencies. But it's an old MONASTERY! Apparently 20 years ago, there was a huge scandal of the religious inhabitants having parties etc and they got kicked out. Then it became a hotel. Of course I will have to investigate that. But for now we're sitting on the open roof terrace at midnight Rome (and SA) time while we just take in the city lights and sounds.
The rooms are extremely modest, blame monastic tendencies- and they they didn't give us twin beds which may mean a bumpy night, lol!
The day of transit has led to this very moment and I'm very wound up. Fortunately writing this calms my brain down a little so by tomorrow morning I can be rested for our full day on the Hop on, hop off bus. Need to take as big a chunk of the city as we can on this limited time. And I was a little nervous that this voucher story was a scam, but it's not -even if I feel like I'm dreaming!!!
