My first morning waking to rain. It felt chilly and I knew my sister was off to work for a morning shift so I took my time getting out of bed. I tried to look at packing my things as I'm going up to Scotland on Monday but my heart wasn't in it, so I stopped.
After lunch, the sun came out so we collected my other sister and set off for a 4km walk. One thing about teachers is that they talk teaching, so I found myself walking ahead of the chatterers noticed how shiny green everything looks. The fake snow had turned into ground mulch and the bluebells seemed scarce too. It was really pleasant in the sunshine but the chill stayed in the shade so we kept crossing the roads to stay sunnyside up.
After a fish supper we found ourselves talking about death, dying and near death experiences (NDE) . It sounds like a macabre topic but it's one that fascinates me. I follow a page on Facebook called Death Cafe but I haven't seen much lately as all the travel and train pages are showing up more. I'd forgotten how much I like talking about these kinds of taboo topics so it was quite an energising conversation in spite of the dark subject. Plus I got to hear about my sister's NDE although she didn't call it that, but I do. I'd never heard about it before as it happened while birthing her first child and I was about 13 at the time so was oblivious to it all. She also recalled our mum saying once (many years before her nde) to not be afraid of looking at the dead, it's the living that should scare us. I'm enjoying hearing snippets of my family life that I don't know or remember so it's really useful and cool having a sister older than me who has all this information that I can learn from.
Travelling to all sorts of realms on this trip, haha!
