Virtual friendships become real

It was a rather fresh morning which was ideal for me to get back on the treadmill. I had planned to meet up with a Facebook virtual friend and then her into a real human being, haha. We've had some engagement on the media platform and she realised that I'm currently staying in her neighbourhood so we planned a coffee meeting.

The nearby revamped shopping center was the destination and I was delighted to see that there is a huge new China mall style shop on the top level. I know all the goods are imported but they're cheap and cheerful and I have a penchant for gimmicky things. I did have some restraint though because I'm still theoretically traveling, but came away with a small bag and a rip-off style Dyson hairdryer. I'll let you know how well it works tomorrow, haha.

My coffee 'date' was also in the shop and we laughed and arranged to meet in a few minutes. The Bootleggers coffee shop is a fairly new franchise in Johannesburg but I was impressed with my tasty scrambled egg breakfast. We chatted for about 2 hours and it's always great for me to put a human to the virtual connection.

The dogs were happy to see me and no longer bark as I ramp up the really steep driveway. A late afternoon storm rumbled over the valley but it didn't seem to rain as hard where I am. I'm in bed early again tonight and I'm hoping I don't have dreams of losing my luggage again, haha.
