Two week countdown

Wednesday 26th April 2023

2 weeks today I board my plane Northwards. I'm excited but still think I've got a lot to do here before I go, but it's not really a lot, it just feels it. I'm catching up with some friends, then start packing and trying to figure out how to streamline my vitamin supply, that I didn't really use last year, they are heavy!

Today I had to go find some wifi for an hour long online meeting as yesterday's tree cutting left behind a Fibre casualty.  I caught the tail end of work goers stuck in loadshedding traffic but I made it on time and it was warm enough to sit outside to do the call, plus the signal is stronger. After the meeting I even made some uncomfortable phone calls,  okay-most phone calls are icky for me, especially with strangers.  But at least I did it and felt super chuffed.

Afterwards my body was very grateful for my massage from Lorna even with no running. The couple of kilometers of hiking the last few days, made my quad muscle pull so it was useful getting the knots massaged out.

Tomorrow is a public holiday being Freedom day which marks that amazing day in 1994 when South Africa had their first free elections.  Sadly the rainbow nation is exhausted but everyone loves a public holiday near a weekend. The traffic was unpredictable and busy, and I was reminded that it was pay day. Caravans being towed reminded me of the double public holiday,  having Monday off for Workers day. So happy people everywhere!

Unfortunately the wifi wasn't repaired today which means that it might not happen until Tuesday, however, I leave here on Saturday and face the other bugbear of no-solar-power loadshedding.  But I can say that I've thoroughly enjoyed the constant power supply for the last two weeks.

It's the smaller things in life that keeps me stress-free, haha.
