Twist of fate

Wednesday 15th March 2023

My day started off with me joining the running group, not for the run part, but the coffee part, lol. I've been running since 2007 and have been in different clubs, groups and I've seen the support firsthand. Running groups are the glue that keeps many a runner dedicated.  This morning's group is such a diverse and dedicated group and it's really lovely to see and experience. I always thought running was a solo sport and although a medal is only dependent on one person,  there's a fantastic social side to it, should a person choose.

The new experience of my day was driving through the deep south of the city with a  friend on route to the northern suburbs. I was surprised by how clean the route was and amazed by how quick it was too. A visit to doctor's rooms in Rosebank felt like I was stepping back into the 80s. I remembered going for a dental assistant job in the area and fortunately I didn't get that position.  That rejection spurred me on to take a chance and call the local TV station for a job. Of course, that door was flung open and I ended up getting the job of my dreams.

On my return,  Molly was very pleased to see me so we set off for a walk. We got a message that loadshedding had been 'downgraded' so we've had uninterrupted power for a while. I'm not sure how to feel about it. Gratitude for something that should be constant?

But, I am grateful for another lekker day, power or not.
