Treasures

Sunday 26th June 2022

Today there was no plan and it felt like I didn't do much because I spent 2 hours under my duvet staying warm reading a real book! But as I looked through my photos I saw that I had a whole series of little treasures all day.

I think my somber mood started with saying goodbye to my new fast friend, Moira who was driving her 8 hour trip back home and the weather was dreich (a Scots word for dreary and bleak) But nobody comes to Scotland for the sunshine, lol! I walked over to Wetherspoons and realised that the sports shop only opens at 11 and not 10,  I considered getting myself some waterproof trousers because it was that kind of day. I had my first 'tattie' scone which is a flat potato and flour treat, which went down very  well.  I stayed in the restaurant for two hours and then the noise level got too much and went bought my waterproofs for a 'tenner'. Yey! Although I didn't try them on, haha.

I popped into the small museum and watched a short video on the area and realised that there are so many things to see but will need better planning. I also discovered that other seaplanes, the Sutherland,  were based near yesterday's airport, during the second World War, which was exciting because they were also flown onto the Vaal Dam during the war.

I popped into an open door of a church and was very surprised by the mix match of designs inside. I love it when the interior of a place looks nothing like the exterior and gives me a surprise.

After my thaw out with my book I popped out for an evening walk and was honoured to see some lovely clouds complete with sunrays and a castle.  The silence of the fields in this quieter part of the town was soothing and I love being able to walk at night on my own.  Now I'm ready for bed, proper.

Birthday weekend - a success!
