Transitions

Updated: Oct 8, 2022

Friday 7th October 2022

Today was a transit day.  Woke up in Venice and go to sleep 1521km away in London.

Isn't it a fantastic time to be alive? The trip would take me 12 days to walk non-stop. I would have to walk over the Alps that I had glimpses of today from the windows on the plane. Fortunately I can avoid the steep snow climb and moan about leg space instead. I was on the aisle seat otherwise you would be seeing photos of glaciers,  moody silhouettes draped with cloudy blankets. I should remember how the mountains of Verbier look after working there for three months as a chalet maid, but I don't,  but I do admit that the view from the plane jolted something in the brain.

It was chilly and drizzling when we landed at Luton airport.  Samantha had to dash away to catch her train and by the time we realised where her stop was, we hurriedly had to say goodbye.  I went back inside the airport to buy some dinner from the Mark's and Spencer and asked around to find out how to get to my hotel.

I caught the same station bus as Samantha had and walked for 5 short minutes to my Inn. Fortunately the rain had stopped so it was a pleasant walk even if it was dark.

And just like that, my Italian adventure is over (for now). Gracias
