Timing and chilling

Saturday 23rd December 2023

In all of my travels these past 3 years, I've learned to trust the timing of things. I call it Divine Timing. Some things seem to happen without any effort on my part and others I take the necessary steps. Having a very busy brain, I've had to find a way of letting my brain do it's thing without getting my body too anxious and raring to go because my brain has gone inventing.

Case in point: this morning I was inventing a natural stream cleaner. The sewage that gets leaked (or dumped) into the waterways is appalling and unfortunately it's getting worse. Johannesburg doesn't have a fully fledged river which is unusual for a capital city but there's a couple of streams that weave their way through the towns. My invention was charcoal cages that can be lowered into the flow of the streams to filter the much and removed after the issue is resolved. The water would be tested before and after the cage insertion. I was 'selling' them to housing estates, golf course, and the city council itself. This idea popped in my head while running. Believe it or not, my running keeps me balanced in both body and mind.

I had forgotten how bad the sewage smell was and I'd planned to run round the dam outside the housing estate. We still went out and the view was lovely. The stink was worse on the side that hadn't been filtered through the sandy marshy bullrushes area. Rusty was very curious on the far side of the dam when a Dassie popped out of the bushes. It's an odd looking animal and about the size of a Jack Russell dog with prominent front teeth. I'd wished I had my camera with me, but I don't run with it here in South Africa.

The rest of my day was mellow and I spent a lot of time snoozing. This is where the timing factor comes in. I hadn't realised that I'm so tired. The past year of being on the go, up and down Britain on trains, and planes eventually wore me out. Now, this is not a complaint, quite the opposite. It's a sign of appreciation of the timing, where I can spend my time unwinding and catching a breath, before the next busy phase. It helps having some loving animals to engage with too.

Christmas time, again for me, has been a mellow time and I love it.

P.S. picture of the Dassie is off the internet. Just to show what the animal looks like.
