The eve of the feast

Updated: Dec 25, 2022

Christmas Eve!

I drove on rather quiet highways over to the East side of town for housesitting.  Rusty, the dog was a little cautious about me, he sniffed my feet then darted outside. But I'd anticipated this, so I put my fridge shopping away,  said hello to the lovely cats who were eager for my attention and then reached for the dog harness.

Suddenly he started wagging his tail and he knew we were going to walk to the park. This time I knew where the park was and it was a lovely morning. There were no other dogs in the park but Rusty sniffed around and we silently bonded on the way out.

I wondered about animal memory and their thought process. The one lovely cat has taken occupancy of a box and sits contentedly there all day. I busied myself around the house and then put on the telly. Oops.  I've been binging on a great local series called 'Lioness' all day.

Our afternoon walk to the park was cooler and I even got some licks while putting on the dog harness. As the evening drew darker, Rusty came closer and now he's lying beside me while I continue my TV feast. I'm not sure if I will finish the series tonight being Christmas eve and all. I don't want to be awake when Santa is cavorting across the skies. Lol.
