I am so thankful for this marvelous invention of smart phones and internet. The phone developers probably thought the torch function would be helpful now and then, but in SA and our power cuts, it's come in super handy, lol.
The internet gave me the chance to catch up with another friend who does caring in the UK, but is currently in Cape Town. With the video function, she gave me a tour of her new(ish) house, that I hadn't seen yet. I even saw her dog, Thor, twist his head when I called his name. How fantastic an invention.
I remember being at school when the fax machine appeared in offices and in some real fancy homes. I couldn't get my brain around the technology. How did this machine convert signal into dots on paper?
Fortunately my brain opened up a little to how frequencies work and get converted into tangible things. And now I love gadgets. The internet still is a little incomprehensible for me with the information 'floating around in a cloud' but it doesn't stop me from marveling at the advancements and ease of use. If I had had this technology on my gap year back in 1988, things would have been so different. Phone calls were very expensive then, and they were few and far between.
I'm loving the facilities available on this tiny piece of plastic, but most of all, I love the connectedness it gives me. Plus I can take pictures of my artwork and animals, haha!
P.S. bird is not my artwork but my young friend's
