I slept in! That's unusual for me nowadays but after getting up at 6am for the loo I realised that I was still really tired so I managed to sleep till about 9am! It still light now at 9.25pm and I know it's light early in the morning as the official sunrise time is 5.10am so the long light has returned to my days.
After the slow start to my day, my niece and her very tall son stopped in for a quick visit. He's a footballer and the match today helped them move up a league so he was really chuffed. It's great being able to see the family's daily life once again and I'm really enjoying it.
The sun came blasting out which was really deceptive because the North Sea breeze cut through my bones when I stepped outside to escape my hot flush, haha. We ended up making the most of the sunshine by taking a drive down to the beach and walked along the promenade. It's great seeing so many people out and enjoying the promenade, walking their dogs and kids, and others building sandcastles on the beach. There were two 'birders' looking at the fenced off protected area for the Tern birds who migrate from West Africa. Kindred spirits of the feathered kind.
We stopped in at a small Cafe for a coffee and had a natter. The long days mean that the 3pm coffee felt more like it was 11am but I suppose I also missed the first few morning hours lying in. Tonight the Eurovision song contest is on TV but I'm not a fan, haha so I excused myself to come upstairs and do my blog and get back to sleep. The sunshine tired me out, haha.
