I woke up hearing an sms come in from my South African Bank saying that someone had sent me some birthday money. I am delighted yet confused because I can't thank the anonymous donor in person. But it was a lovely way to start yet another day without a plan.
Suddenly my plan shifts and I realise I'm in my running gear and heading outwards in search of a flat(tish) route. Finding a route, I was surprised by how comfortable I felt even with the cooler wind. I may have to keep this running up if I'm to run this 2020 postponed marathon in October. The thought frightens me of running so far (42km), but while running I sorted my fuzzy brain out, so I think I may stick at it. (For now lol)
I took a bus over to one of the massive malls with the intention of getting some new undies. It's amazing how quickly socks can wear away if you only have 2 pairs in rotation. The shop I went into was at least 5 times the size of the store I'd visited in Hartlepool. All my running zen-like brain waves went fuzzy and I found myself trying on tshirts and rain jackets as if I had my own wardrobe instead of a rucksack. I started to laugh and finally walked away with only what was on my list.
My brother had told me that I could walk along the Clyde River behind the mall so I set off to find it. Again being impressed by how clean the pavements are, even past a delivery area.
The river has a certain ping in my heart although I have yet to sail on it. Perhaps it's because my dad worked along it in the Shipyard days of the 50's and 60's.
I heard a lady on the bus talk about the steamboat, the Waverly, which does trips along the river and I had been googling last night. I'm definitely going to do that sometime in the near future. But today I was happy with the new bus and a shiny mall.
