Summer Sunday

Many years back, my overseas family all gathered in South Africa to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday. Some of the clan (and it's a huge one) arrived early to take advantage of the Southern Hemisphere summer. Except it was wet, cool and stormy. My nephews would stare out longingly at the pool, but lightning prevented them for taking their dips.

Today was an extention of the turbulent December with wet and cool weather. It gave me a chance to try out my new knitted slippers, given to me by my friend's mother, yesterday, and they worked a treat. My toes were toasty.

I had to leave the comfort of my slippers while meeting my future housesitting owners in the afternoon. We don't know each other and we had to make sure that all parties were comfortable. Rusty, the dog, barked at my Smartie (new loan car this week-I think) and both cats gave me a rub of their cheeks in approval. So later in the month I will be doing more adverturing on the east side of Johannesburg.

I'm enjoying this new chapter of life.
