It was one of those unusual days today and even the weather was unusual. My plan was to go see a 1000 year old tree in Wonderboom nature reserve but the directions took me to a farm machinery place with no sign of an entrance into the reserve. I drove right around the tree area but couldn't find the gate so I went to my next place.
Duncan Yard is a quirky building collection that looks like an abandoned ghost town. It's tragic because I swear I could hear the echoes of festivities. I asked one of the few souls on the premises what happened. He shrugged and said he thinks Lockdown killed it. I took some photos and punched in my next bnb address in my phone.
I was too early for my check in so did a sudden stop at a shopping centre where winter slapped my face. It was an odd shopping centre that had very little personality but I found a curry restaurant so I sat down to a delicious butter chicken and ended up having to fetch my jacket from my car.
The drive to my unusual accommodation was rather pleasant and I saw a few coffee shops and even a castle on route that I will need to return to. Being Mother's day, I ended up waiting for my bnb to be opened while they were out for a celebratory lunch. After a half hour wait, I was shown to my bus while it started to rain.
A bus can be draughty to sleep in, but fortunately there's an effective aircon keeping the winter chill outside the folding doors. I saw this place a couple of years back while staying in a small bnb down the road and knew that I would have to come back one time and sleep over. I'm the only guest tonight and fortunately I have my own wifi because there's none available in the buses. Some places are meant to have company as there's a great outdoor space but I have binged on a great UK series called 'the Split'. When there were glimpses of sun I nipped outside to take photos, there's just so many cute things to see.
And yes, I have my own bathroom on the bus.
Tonight is my last South African bnb on my World Tour as I am returning to my family in Johannesburg tomorrow and they have to stare at me for the week before I leave to hitch a ride in Angie's motorhome in England. No doubt you will hear all about that, but for now, it's a school bus good night from me!
