Storms and teacups

Thursday 2nd November 2023

I woke up at 3.30am and lay listening to the wind and rain of the current storm Cieran, that is bashing the British Isles. We got off lightly up north, down south it looked wild. Not as wild as the tornado over Mexico though. I then heard birds chirping and realised that it was getting light. Turns out it wasn't 3.30am after all, I'd read the clock wrong.

My niece popped round for coffee as her school is on a mid-term break while her own boys' high school isn't on a break. My other sister popped round too and together with the two dogs, I looked around the room and smiled at the opportunity to be with my family, usually so far away.

Our large family of seven siblings made it natural that we would scatter as we adulted. So there's been many missed cups of coffee and catch-ups, never mind birthday celebrations and special occasions. It's easier now to live far away because of the internet and social media so I hear about my younger sister and running friends going out of town tomorrow for a marathon near the Kruger National Park as well. It's like I'm living the best of both worlds. I wouldn't mind some sunshine transferring over too though, haha.

I'm feeling grateful to be living my best life.
