I feel like I stepped on the set of masterchef. A real gourmet food restaurant, with a fantastic view of the harbour. The decor isn't fancy, but I heard the chef shouting out the orders behind me. It's probably the most expensive meal I will eat this season but I was already seated when I saw the menu, so I decided to give it a try.
I ordered a salmon trout starter and the waiter asked if that was all. I wondered if he knew the portion size but I am eating smaller portions lately so I nodded confidently.
The bread arrived with a ritual and I didn't have the heart to say 'I won't have bread'. But it was worth the ritual and wasn't a large slice. I was still dipping the crust in the infused something-or-other when my meal arrived. It looked all pretty and unusual and I wondered if I need to eat the flowers.
Eating alone is often calming for me, but sometimes it's fun to share unusual experiences.
The boats in the marina fascinate me. I can't begin to understand the sailing world and I try to get my head around leaving a million Rand plus asset to knock around unmanned in the elements. Right opposite my table was a rather large yacht that looked lived in. Suddenly there was movement. An unlikely looking older gent taking out the trash. This of course, set off many more questions in my mind and I was almost tempted to shout out the window. But, I remembered in time, that I was in a fancy restaurant.
Being curious can be tiring, lol
