When you see the Southern Cross for the first time...
I'm dizzy. Literally staggering around the bnb. I put it down to keeping my head turned up towards the Milky Way. The Karoo sky was fantastically clear and I finally understand that some 'clouds' are actually Magellanic clouds or irregular galaxies near the Southern Cross.
Yes, I went star gazing tonight at a passionate local astronomy enthusiast, Jurgen.
It was brilliant.
This morning I was on top of the Karoo closest to the stars in the Southern African Large Telescope (SALT) center near Sutherland in the Northern Cape.
It's magnificent and fascinating and impressive to see such magnificent inventions with the oldest one built in 1938 and is still in use. I could write so much about it all but I am still a bit dizzy-lol.
I'm staying a second night here and I am so glad I decided to be here instead of Laingsburg which had been my original plan. There's so much to see and there's a fascinating lady who works at my accommodation and her life story is intriguing. But tomorrow morning I have a church building tour so I need my beauty sleep.
