Last night's Ghost walk was fantastic and it was only in retelling some of the stories today that I realise just how much information we were given. Leon told his stories in Afrikaans and had us all mesmerized. It was fabulous walking in the misty, quiet streets surrounded by many stone buildings and catch glimpses of the sleepy town set in the 1800s. If ever you are in Mossel Bay, you really must attend one. Click here for the Facebook page.
This morning I woke to a misty covered mountain (sounds like a song) and bolted out of bed to accompany my friend on the 'school run'. A fabulous view greeted us on the route and when we entered George I remembered what lots of traffic felt like. We then drove up to the Tolgate which built in the 1840s. The first toll keeper was a Brit and I was surprised reading that, I'm not sure why. But the small museum has a fascinating history of being burnt then rebuilt, and burning again 169 years later in 2018. It's been lovingly restored and we had pancakes and condensed milk coffee for a small donation and it was truly delicious. The view is spectacular too, so really worthwhile to stop and support the passionate history keepers. More information
Tonight my gratitude is spilling over as I lie on the most comfortable couch with the best view and the relaxing thought of two weeks on non-driving. I didn't realise how much I had been running on adrenaline and I think this view of the Sedgefield Lagoon Mouth will be an ideal place to catch my breath and rest. The kindness of my friends in letting me use their space is flooding my eyes with gratitude to match the light drizzle that has settled over the area. Full heart.
