Soggy Sundays

Sunday 13th November 2022

I slept well last night,  think it was post tour relief haha.  But it was still wet and dull when I first woke around 6am so continued resting until 8am.  Which is actually quite late for me but my body needed it.

The continual rains stayed with me as I drove 40km across the city for lunch with dear friends.  My tiny car managed to navigate the streams of water on the highway although the back splash from trucks did make it tricky to see. It's amazing how big Johannesburg actually is. I drove the circle route west to east but it's still wider than I drove.

The restaurant was very busy and it was fun catching up with friends after so long away.  There was even a British phone box with the necessary graffiti.

On my drive home I was thinking about the travel days of my main character from my tour,  HB Marshall. He was in this area in the late 1800s.  Ox wagon, cart, horses and mules on this hilly muddy terrain taking hours to get 13km covered. Again I was thankful for being alive at this time and space and for my wee car that squeezes through tight spaces.

The late afternoon saw a break in the weather and I took Molly for a short walk around the block in my wellies. The sun will shine tomorrow because,  well it's Monday.
