Sunday 10th April 2022

Waking up to one of the wettest days I have had lately, made me stop and think of my friend who was running a really long race of 48km in Pretoria. I hoped that she had a bit lighter rain but also knew that she would be fine and she was.

I took my time getting out of my snug bed but I was looking forward to stretching my mind into the world and visiting my friend. She lives on one of the koppies in Johannesburg and her view always makes me stop and gasp. I did that again today and marveled at how different the world looks from higher angles.

The blanket of cloud moved around Northcliff hill and I was amazed at how quickly it all changes. It reminds me of taking off on an airplane and seeing life on the ground get smaller. Life's problems get smaller too as the immediate surroundings become 'the world'.

After a lovely visit, I drove back to bnb which took all of five minutes. After years of being on the west side of town, I am really amazed at how nearby everything feels when staying central. Johannesburg can really be a lovely, interesting city but even more so when the sun shines.
