Smells and pancakes

Wednesday 24th January 2024

I got up easily this morning. Well, I jolted out of bed because the washing machine was disco dancing around the kitchen. My sister had put a load of laundry in and left for her run, so as I got to the kitchen I saw a random cat eating Emily's cat food. It skeedaddled out of the window and after I rearranged the machine I was ready to take Molly out and go for my run.

Being January, there's many new walkers and runners out in the morning and I greeted them all. I didn't mind sharing my early dawn space today, which is unusual. Early mornings are special, like an unopened present and today felt like something good was going to happen.

My joy today was noticing how full the 'Yesterday, today and tomorrow ' bush was blooming. It's special fragrance took me back to different places in my memories. Then the bees around the lavender bush looked busy gathering their pollen for next month's honey supply. I have a habit that I picked up from my running days, and that is to rub my fingers over the lavender leaves and breathe it in. Stop and smell the lavender sort of thing. It's wonderful to do.

There were a few different house collections happening too, but the biggest one never arrived. There is a charity that collects any household items no longer wanted and my sister has a garage full. I spent most of the day waiting for their confirmation, but now I'm hoping for it tomorrow.

I felt like savoury pancakes for dinner so had to Google the recipe. Sister was asking why am I so domestic lately but I reminded her that I've been cooking every night since I arrived, lol. The pancakes worked but I could only manage to eat one. Some cinnamon will do the trick tomorrow.
