Settling back in

Monday 14th November 2022

I think I must have adjusted to being back in SA too much. I didn't take any photos outside! And not because there was nothing to see. The sun came out and the world looked completely different. I drove past a beautiful bougainvillea in bloom and admired it but didn't stop to take a picture. I think it's because my mind was racing ahead to what needs to be done instead of appreciating the 'now'.

I did appreciate my fantastic massage therapist's hands on my back as she kneaded the knots out of my back muscles. I groaned and realised just how much I missed physical touch in the last 6 months.  It's sad that us westerners view massage as a luxury instead of a necessity. A physical maintenance to help circulation, relaxation and ease body tension- that's how I would describe it. I certainly didn't think to take any photos there though, lol.

I had a client session from Durham UK, which was great and she felt better and I remembered how good it is to help people when they're in a tough spot. Mid-session Molly start barking and it took me back to the days of my old dog Doyle,  who used to lie behind my therapy chair and groan every now and then which made me laugh.

Molly snuggled with me as I watched an episode of the 'Crown' on Netflix which I'm not enjoying as much as the previous seasons. There was a moment of recognition when the Queen was standing in the embers of the Windsor Castle fire and just two weeks ago I'd stood in the reconstructed and repaired tower of the same castle.  It took five years to repair it and I'm glad I got to see it.

There's a lot of gratitude in my body tonight.
