I woke up with a start, wondering where I was and then I saw the harbour lights and I remembered. I smiled at the dull light over the harbour and decided to take a photo of it's mood at 5am. Snuggling up to my pillow 5 minutes later I hear a loud sound. The rain came pelting down and blocked my view. My run wasn't likely to happen so I slept on. A few hours later we took a walk in the area and found breakfast at a food court style venue next to the pier. A few cyclists were already eating their breakfast and it reminded me of the race taking place on this grotty morning.
Our return walk was a lot colder and it just made me think that it felt even more like a different country with the canals and different apartments. Loadshedding was announced so decided to drive out of the area for an early supper. Walking along the pier above a very calm sea was almost surreal. We chatted to an 'older' rollerblader and cheered her on her 20 year return to her skates. I love the promenade style life where locals come to walk off their lunch and get some fresh sea air. The Edward Hotel was serving food all day so we sat down in a quiet dining room for a prawn bunny chow before the crowds began to arrive as we were leaving.
A quick peek at the rooftop pool and harbour and city lights made me feel giddy at all the beautiful things that I am experiencing. I'm really enjoying every minute of it all.
