Runaround Saturday

Saturday 23 April 2022 I was 'guilted' into running this morning and not because it was a beautiful Autumn morning with cute Molly begging me to walk. It was because I knew my sister had set off at 7am for her 62km trail race in the Underberg. She had a full 15 hours of mountains, water crossing, rock climbing and running in the dark ahead of her, so I gave myself a 42 minute run.

The rest of my day was rather chilled because I was gathering up the energy to go out at night -gasp! Twice in a month. A friend had gifted me a ticket to go see Jesse Clegg play at the Teatro at Montecasino which is a short 15 minute drive away. And I was so glad I went.

I arrived a bit early and sat people watching and I realised that it's been a long two years of not seeing teenagers go out. I wanted to cover up the bare chests and bellies of some of the beautiful young teens but watched in amusement of the hormone raging lads fixate on the boobs. I saw a farmer type lad with his very kort broek walk by just as a Muslim gent in full thobe almost bumped the farmers shoulder. Then a fully grown lady walked past with neon-lit trainers so I thought I should be taking snaps of these. I was completely unaware of how odd I must look with my blue hair and steampunk leggings.

My friend arrived and we went into the theater and were treated to a great show with good sound and a couple of dances. I zipped back on the very empty freeway just in time to see that my sister had crossed the finish line of her race. So now we can both rest well, although I think I might be feeling more comfortable than she is.
