Run, Easter, fun

Sunday 9th April 2023

Easter Sunday.

This morning my dreams of dancing the cha-cha were disturbed by waking up early to meet the running girls who were going to fetch me. They'd arranged to park at a local gym, run the 5km to meet me and I would join them for their second 5km. It was a lovely morning and a great reminder to how unfit I currently am. I'm not talking-while-running fit and my pace is also very slow but it was still great to get on the road. Plus the local running club had a few hundred runners doing their 30km over some of our route and it was nice to see a couple of familiar faces.

After a catch-up breakfast,  I dashed through the shower and nipped to the shops to get some Easter eggs. I'd heard on the radio that the shops were sold out so I gave myself time to drive around if needed. On route to my other sister's house there's a small shopping complex that is currently being renovated but the Woolies is still trading. It was hidden and dark in amongst all the scaffolding but they had a huge supply of eggs.

The lunch was superb and that's been two great meals I've had over this long weekend. It's terrible that I don't reciprocate but I hate entertaining,  mind you I currently don't have my own kitchen, haha. My nephew is out from Scotland so it was nice seeing more of the clan while eating great food.

Seeing him reminded me of the date and tomorrow will be one month till I return to the UK. Tonight I watched more British series,  Vera and lo and behold, there was Hartlepool's station on the end credits! I got very excited seeing it, so I had to screen shot it. My nephew's girlfriend asked me what I've been doing since I've been back in SA and my mind went blank.  Then I remembered my tour, haha.

I'm really enjoying this nomadic lifestyle and feel really privileged to be able to move about so freely.  I'm exploring both aspects of my culture,  both north and south (Hemisphere).

It's raining hard tonight and it was rather windy, which is a little unusual for this time of Johannesburg year. But I've still got the fan switched on. I'm a big fan...
