Rugby Friyay

Friday 8th September 2023

I woke up before 6 but confused at the blue eerie light that the mist was creating. I knew it was futile to try fall back asleep so I put on my local Johannesburg radio station and realised that it's World Cup Rugby weekend. It was fun listening to Tony Blewitt interview PJ Powers who had sung the theme song back in 1995. The other two radio team members were probably not born yet, haha.

I started searching for my TV work pictures on Facebook found some of the final which took place in Johannesburg the day before my 29th birthday in 1995. I'm so glad that I was photo happy even then way back when. I do regret not spending even more money on developing hundreds more of that awesome occasion when South Africa had endeared the world with the new leader, Nelson Mandela. It had also a strange angle of my premonition dreams too because earlier in that year my friend remembered that I'd dreamed of a huge jumbo jet parking beside the higher entrances of the same stadium. Well, it was hovering, like they do in dreams. So once the TV crew heard that a Boeing 747 was going to be doing a fly-by she panicked and remembered my dream. Fortunately it had a happy ending all round.

I looked at the TV pictures and once again marvelled at my own life. In a way, I question how did I get so lucky? But I consciously look for the magic on a daily basis. I also tend to look for the good, and it's always, always there. Sometimes a bit hidden but diamonds need the coal to surround it.

Another 'new' mantra for me was introduced by my guru brother

'Don't let perfect be the enemy of good..'

Attributed to Voltaire or a French Proverb and that I think is just perfect.😉

For the longest time I thought perfection was the goal, but I'm realising that good is in fact, perfect. So today I had a perfect day and will have a perfect weekend...
