Rugby dilemma

Sunday 15th October 2023

It was a long day for me, and I wondered how much sleep the young rugby players get the night before a match. Not that I lay awake thinking about the rugby, it was the day that seemed to drag. I'm mid match now, yet I can't deal with the stress, haha. I'm talking about the rugby world cup, which is happening in Paris. I've worked on huge sport tournaments, yet watching as a spectator is just too stressful for me. I'd rather watch the highlights.

Mid-afternoon, I realised that the wind had stopped blowing so thought it a good time to get some fresh air. Then I had a thought of doing some urban sketching of the bridges. I've done one morning with the Johannesburg group and I really enjoyed it, even if I was unprepared paint and paper wise. Today I had one pen and a lined notebook. I was prepared for the cold though, I had my new legwarmers on and remembered to use my buff for my ears. I headed down to a small stretch of beach in the sun and did my thing. It was lovely. I didn't sit on the ground though, I'm not brave enough for that cold haha.

These huge lumps of steel so artistically arching over the Forth River, which have been standing there for 130 years, demand to be admired. My brother explained it well, by saying that it was a physical demonstration to the world of the wealth and power of the times. "Look how powerful we are". Now I marvel at both the engineering and the beauty. The sun adds to the drama and it's just mesmerising.

The rugby is still not finished and South Africa are behind. I've finished my blog and I don't want to start pacing, I might upset the cats, haha. I suppose I could change the channel? Wait, tea.... I can make myself a chamomile tea!
