After a few tense days of waiting to hear if my sister's passport had arrived so she could travel here to Scotland, to run her 100 mile race, it was decided. She can't make it. No passport.
My reason for coming over had initially been to be her support on the race route. Being here for one month already, I'm realising that there are sometimes bigger reasons for things happening that take a while to unfold. I'm enjoying this unfolding.
My Facebook memories flung out a year memory post, which has resulted in the most unusual, unlikely and magical year. One year ago the idea of living at the sea finally took hold. After years of 'Comrades promises' of moving from Johannesburg to the sea, it was at the little coffee shop in Umdloti just as the morning dolphins had swum by, that my higher self said 'why not try it?'
The adventure of travel has kept me writing, exploring, discovering, laughing, smiling, winning, crying, thanking, delighting, and in my constant state of curiosity and gratitude.
Today I traveled with my big brother up to his home, in Scotland, my birthplace. Almost in time for my 56th birthday.
Of course it rained, just before the invisible line marked by Hadrian's wall. The temperature dropped but the sun returned to light the sky up till 10pm when this cloud picture was taken.
Aye.
