I miss seeing the sea in my rear view mirror. Suddenly spotting the calm blue horison, when driving up a steep hill makes me happy. Climbing down my stairs to my place looking for the tortoise but realising that there is the golden mile shimmering above the garden view. Sigh.
I took a drive to Melville this morning and caught the tail end of the lilac streets of Jacaranda petals. The bougenvillea are in full buzz though, so it was pleasant to see. It was interesting to see that the majority of drivers use their indicators and stopped at the amber traffic lights more readily than the coastal driving counterparts.
The absence of water in the suburbs near Melville due to... well, loadshedding, meant that I followed my friend further north to have a spot of lunch and use a functioning rest room.
Although I miss the sea, there are some fascinating areas of Johannesburg that I need to experience and explore. It's like a smorgasbord of food though, where do I begin? Start with friends... that's my new philosophy. Explore their hood, with food and on foot. ( Although today, we drove)
