I finally let my alarm clock do its job and not check on it every hour. I was surprised when it rang at 4.02am so I bolted out of bed and jumped into the shower in a state of surprise. Of course, in the morning I wake in the pre dawn light, it's raining but fortunately not altogether unpleasant. Walking in the blue dawn reminded me of my first 'gap year' in a cold wintery Glasgow in 1988, with the street lights splitting the dark into orange shards on the pavement.
I got to the golf course as the greenkeepers were out and all the litter was still being removed. It was the first time in almost two months (yes-gasp!) that I'd seen such bad litter. It made me realise how quickly I have adapted to life here. But that adaptation changed as I sat shivering in my truck at 5am. It took me hours to warm up properly and I remembered how tough TV Outside work is, in the rain.
The swallows returned around the same time as yesterday by flying into my truck but this time I was able to film them a bit which you can watch here if you want. The sun came out around lunchtime and I was able to let some Vitamin D sink into my cold bones while sitting on the buggy.
P.S. my 'proof reader' sister usually only corrects my typos the day after I've written this, and I must apologize for my tired eyes that let so many mistakes slip through.
