Public holiday Friday

Friday 16th December 2022

I went to my first running 'race' in three years today although it was more a fun run than a speed race. It's a short run around some lovely streets in Parkhurst and surrounds. But the nice thing is that everyone dresses up with funny hats and festive gear. It was lovely seeing the efforts of so many people and a lot of well behaved dogs had some Christmas cheer on too.

I didn't run with my phone because it was low on battery but some friends took pictures on route. I didn't see too many people that I knew though as I think the running demographic has changed quite a lot in the last 3 years.

I caught up with my friend and ended up finishing with him before his wife and other friend joined for a lovely breakfast at a nearby restaurant.  The weather was perfect and not too hot for wearing and extra hat on my sweaty head.

Unfortunately the power situation is still appalling. We had a very exciting 30 minutes of power before it all crashed again so I've been keeping my phone on flight mode to save power.  Today I only had one session of snoozing and have been reading a John Grisham book on the couch.  I'm quite enjoying it,  it's been so long since I read fiction books that I haven't quite figured out what I like now. So I'm reading what's available in the limited DC light.

Hopefully tomorrow we get some power and we can continue throwing out all the ruined fridge and freezer food.  Sigh.
