Living in South Africa means we spend a lot of our time being power less. Our national power supply is... well, let's say, I won't use the word I want to, here. What that means is that we are currently (pun) having electricity shut off for 2 hours at a time, three times a day. We get irritated, despairing at the thought of food not lasting in freezers, impatient, resilient, hardy, enterprising and accommodating. I woke up to the first power free section so planned to go run at a different section of the city and pop round to see my dad afterwards. I didn't plan the rain.
Sitting in my car, the promenade was very very quiet. Even the coffee van left when I drove in around 8am. I debated about my running, considering I didn't bring extra shoes. But I was too early for dad, and now too far from my place. So I set off.
Of course it was better than I expected.
Of course there were some diehard holidaymakers in their bikinis selfie-ing on the pier.
Of course I offered my photographer services.
Of course I found the deepest invisible puddle half a kilometer from my finish.
But I consoled myself with a yummy breakfast without coffee (no power -by the time I got there)
