Another soggy morning started early with Rusty and I dashing through the streets. I tried to avoid the marshy parts of the fields and decided to stick to the tar. Some of the houses are massive, while others have kept the original village-style look. While in my shower, Rusty sneaked my neon running jacket out of my room into his and I took it as yet another compliment- I've made the cut.
I heard about a different market happening so drove the short distance to the gathering of the Piston club. I had to do a teeny bit of research...
"The club was formed in 1970 by a group of car enthusiasts and used to meet in Kensington.
When the club first started there were 70 members. In 1994 it moved to the Modderfontein grounds.
Modderfontein resident and committee member of the club Michael Davidson..said that on average between 300 and 400 cars are displayed by club members monthly.... "
Quite different but interesting seeing a Datsun similar to my first car..
I didn't stay too long because it was rather 'manly' and I know very little about such things but I can still appreciate the look of the old cars.
I headed off to meet my friends for a lovely lunch.
My first weekend this estate ends and can completely understand why people don't move away.
