Passing ships

Today I experienced a glimpse of what the summer months in Durban will be like. The sun was high in the sky when I made my way to the promenade to run. I was timing it to fit in a visit to my dad, so I deliberately left my bnb later. When I got to the Point beach side I saw a massive ship sailing directly towards the shore and I thought I might be on time to see it enter the harbour mouth. Fortunately, my sluggish style of walk/run got me there right on time and I stood watching the silent glide cut through the water. Of course I had to google later how ships actually work and I am still a little confused. Another massive ship sailed in shortly after the first and I continued my run feeling happy to be able to experience all of this.

The heat exaggerated my sluggish legs so I decided to do my turn around on the first pier and I made my 5km distance wondering if I will ever be fit enough for longer runs.

I cheered up by stopping at the Royal Yacht Club and ate delicious fish and ordinary chips while watching ships, tug and tour boats as well as pelicans in the harbour. I started googling my location on satellite mode which is fascinating seeing underwater sandbanks and containers lined up on railway lines. Next thing I knew, I was 'in' Madagascar. I realised then, that it was time to leave the restaurant before I found a sailor on route up the east side of Africa.
