It was a hot summers day when I was out for my run and that was at 6.30am! Fortunately I had shade for a lot of my route. I took Molly out for a short run afterwards and Emily the cat, sat next to me when I returned. Emily is a temperamental cat who bites without much warning so I was afraid... very afraid, when she uncharacteristically jumped up on the bed. But I remained bite free and when sister returned from her run she bathed an unimpressed but very shedding, Molly.
Living and working (yes I do) the way I do, end of year functions seldom happen for me, but this year I was invited to a Tour Guide function for the heritage foundation, so I decided to go along. I'm so glad I did. The house was stunning and the gardens are delightful and we were allowed to walk through it all.
The lovely host had provided a huge marquee and the yummy lunch which the group of around 50 of us enjoyed. It was great putting faces to the names I've seen in newsletters but unfortunately I can't remember many of them at all again now.
There were some fascinating and extremely knowledgeable people and I had moments where I felt like I was 12 and knew nothing. But I enjoyed the conversations and some of the eavesdropping I did, and I came away feeling extremely grateful for the experience.
I dozed off watching Netflix again and am now loving the buzz of the tiny bedside fan that is helping me with the heat. A lovely end to a day that was a lovely end to the heritage year.
