27th December 2022
I'm becoming accustomed to having morning naps after my morning runs. I got up a bit later so we only got on the road at 5.20am. Rusty was going to spend 2 days at his family farm so I decided to not do the full 5km so we went up different streets and ended up going through the posher park.
He seemed to know that he was leaving today as he kept pacing towards the front door. One of my cat charges had brought in a rat in the night so I was buzzing around trying to clean up the crime scene so Rusty finally went to sleep on the owners bed.
I was invited to a friend's 60th birthday and farewell party today so I headed out with my phone on maps again. I realised that I hadn't been in my car since I got here, on Christmas eve. The weather stayed pleasant for our outside party and I had a lovely time listening to different conversations and meeting another like minded writer. The hours went by really quickly and the Highveld thunder started to build up so I said my goodbyes and drove back to the estate. I was reflecting back on my amazing year and the new friends I've made.
Returning to a Rusty-less house was strange but the cats have been completely different in personality. Chutney- the rat hunter, has been following me around and is now nestled beside me while the rain falls. Tomorrow I hope to sleep late then go explore the area once again, but this time in my car. Lol
PS. Spot the face in the plant lol.
