Parked in Parkview

Saturday 26th March 2022

I slept really well and only woke up after 6. I lay and watched the mist play over the hills and then I heard the dogs bark so I got up and started facing the weekend.

I moved areas today and as I was packing up I realised that I was going to be spending time in an area where I once wondered what it would be like to live in. Then I laughed because my bnb last week was also in an area that I had thought the same.

Johannesburg is a very interesting city with the different suburbs having very different feels. I have spent the bulk of my time living in the west side of the city and when I started going on tours in downtown Jozi I realised that it can feel like I am traveling in a different country. My bnb is in a very leafy area quite close to the zoo, which in itself is over 100 years old. It turned a bit cool for me to go exploring this afternoon after I checked in and my wrist cut was a bit tender.

My bnb isn't as nice as it seemed on the photos but it's pleasant and home for the next three nights. Hopefully I can do a video or two of the area and there's some lovely coffee shops and restaurants nearby. I used to have a client in the area that I would do home visits with plus it's also the suburb that I did a writing workshop in a few years back. Parkview has some Scottish street names too which is useful for my other project AfriScot.

Yes, I have lots of projects in many different directions, and yes it seems like I never finish all of them, but my philosophy is that 'nothing is ever wasted'. But it's all fun!
