Orange Saturday

Saturday 2nd July 2022 ( sort of)

It's almost 3am and I'm only climbing into bed now, so I'm saying that this blog is for Saturday even though it's early Sunday morning. That's what happens when I get together with my cousin who I haven't seen in 7 years.

I got into Glasgow mid morning, and mid Orange Walk. This is a predominantly Protestant walk through the city streets depicting King William of Orange's victory over the Roman Catholics at the Battle of Boyne. I had no idea of the history until I Googled those sentences because all I remember is it being a fearful day of avoiding any trouble between factions.  Today I was intrigued by the pomp and ceremony and there's something to be said about the sound of drums bouncing off the buildings that creates a stirring in the human body.  I was grinning from ear to ear at the seriousness of the marchers and I wondered if they truly view any 'non-marcher' as the enemy. Us humans are funny critters.

I arrived in Edinburgh to visit my cousin,  uncle and family and it's wonderful to catch up. They live across from the city and there are magnificent views of the different bridges which I'm hoping to explore later ( today lol)

Good night (or morning!)
