Online time travel

Today my world took me back in time and online. History was never my favourite subject, which seems crazy because I used to spend so much time dwelling on my past. But as to the dates of wars and killings and religious fervour, I was completely switched off. Plus we had a VERY dull high school teacher who was more interested in the sexy 'Housecraft teacher' than getting us spotty teens turned on about history.

Yet, all he needed to do was show me some historical buildings...

Which is what my current project is all about. Buildings of the downtown city. And now the famous women who have some streets named after them. These fascinating stories have made me learn more about a section of life in South Africa which was ignored by my teachers of yesteryear.

Their lives evoke sadness, despair, guilt but also hope and I love that I can immerse myself into a different century, online and easily without the hardships of that horrid time.
