I woke up to a peach coloured horison. It was stunningly beautiful. I didn't want to disturb the moment by reaching for my camera as I knew it wouldn't show up as exquisitely in the lens. I let the light filter through my dreamy state and just lay still watching the colours change. I'd also not heard the dog so I hung onto the moment letting it seep into my soul.
Both cats were at my door when my bladder finally broke my moment of sunrise bliss. They skipped around my ankles trying to maneuver me to the kitchen first. The rabbits also rushed to the cage door and I wondered if they can understand the dogs nearby.
I'm sure there's an inaudible animal language going on that we aren't privy to. I enjoy trying to communicate with gestures and mental pictures to see if dogs pick up my energy. I know Molly is quite in sync, and the Labrador here, Harley, is pretty good are reading my body language. The bulldog, Avi, has a different way of communicating. She moans a lot and blinks her eyes. My sister reckons it's one blink for yes and two for no. I tried it late afternoon after she had been sick and thrown up her lunch. I remembered she'd gone deep into the foliage and I reckon she licked some bird poo or something. We ended up having a blinking chat when she wouldn't settle. I eventually asked her if she was hungry to which she responded eagerly and wagged the stub of a tail. Turns out she did eat although I was cautious in giving her food on top of her nausea. But she settled in for the night after some chunks. (She loves watching animals on TV)
I realise that these blogs have become all animal friendly but frankly that's kind of what I've been doing and the company I'm keeping. The travel writing will resume soon and there's some really exciting things on my horison and not just spectacular sunrises. I'm feeling so damn fortunate to be right here, right now at this time of my life and to be experiencing cat bops and eyes blinking. It just all adds up to the amazing tapestry of life. So if you see me blinking twice in a row just know that it means no, and ask gently for the one blink...
