I woke up to a very different view. Mist and rain had settled in and the water's edge had almost disappeared. I'm loving seeing the changing views, colours and tides.
While drinking our coffee, I suddenly heard a voice on a loudspeaker. Morecambe Parkrun starts directly across from my friend's flat. How cool! If my neuromas weren't there, I would have joined them. Wait, it was peeing down, and I'm a South African weather snob. This means we wait for better weather. My friend has lived here for 9 years and she still hesitates to go out in 'weather' but less so now. I took pictures of the dedicated runners and cheered them on from afar instead.
A while later we did venture out into the weather. We took a walk down the front in the opposite direction from yesterday's walk and I loved it all. Some amusement arcades, art deco buildings, old stations and a statue of Eric Morecambe. He was a local born comedian from the 43 year partnership 'Morecambe and Wise'. His surname was Bartholomew, but his stage name was from this home town. The comedy act was interrupted when both young men served in World War 2. I can't remember any of their comedy so it might be something to look up, one rainy day .
We walked around the small town center and back along the front. This time stopped in some eccentric shops and then, had coffee in a wonderful old theatre which just got me beaming at the memory of possible shows and audience. It's run down but some passionate volunteers are determined to keep it going and it's just lovely.
The rest of the afternoon had us chat, watch the tides change and have a mini beauty salon session while Samantha coloured my hair. I might not recognise myself in the morning, haha.
