More car stories

I've had my car for a week. It's still strange to go out and see it and think

'I won that..' but strange in a fabulous way. I drove a short distance and caught myself smiling the whole way.

I've never been a car snob. For me any wheels were better than 'shanty's pony', ironic that took up running at the age of 40. I used to have to walk to school and sometimes my friend's mum would give me a lift back home in their rickety Anglia. My friend was embarrassed by the car that needed push-starting, or idled while we 'piled in', but I was delighted for the ride.

My own car story went from Datsun 120Y, yellow sunbug beetle, silver Toyota corolla, green mazda, white corsa, red smart...

This Isuzu is by far the biggest, poshest, easiest drive I have had and can totally understand how people say that they feel 'safe' in a car. I didn't realise how that feels. But it's a feeling that I am enjoying.
