It was too pleasant a morning not to go run. Plus I wanted to explore the canals again with Zureida. It's such a lovely area of development and we felt very safe walking around, it really feels like a different country. South Africa has so many places to visit and experience and I know that 2 days don't give a true representation of life but merely a glimpse and I am eager to get as many glimpses as possible. Sometimes it is very necessary to experience a place on foot and I am pleased to say that my feet soaked in the Indian Ocean for the second time this trip, after my run.
My friend, Zureida was leaving today and we still had a lot to see. Unfortunately the one rooftop bar I had hoped to share was sadly closed so we went to a fourth floor coffee shop. We sat under a magnificent mural of Anton Muziwakhe Lembede, the founding president of the African National Congress and listened to the city noise below.
We walked through the Durban Manor Hotel with our jaws open under our masks and whizzed off to chores, lunch and pack.
The light drizzle started just as we were heading to the airport and the timing was perfect because I managed to miss the traffic leaving the city. Tonight I am feeling the effects of sand running on my feet and legs but still going to sleep with a very full heart.
